Ontrack® PowerControls™ ExtractWizard
ExtractWizard is a powerful additional feature for PowerControls. If
you have not yet restored backed-up Exchange Information Store data, try
using PowerControls ExtractWizard. Most backup programs only allow you to
restore Exchange data to the same or duplicate server from which it was
backed up. Using ExtractWizard, you can restore both private and public
Exchange Information Store data from tape and disk backups to any
alternate location (e.g., machine, volume, folder), thereby eliminating
the need to restore an online backup to a duplicate Exchange
Server...better known as a "Recovery Server." ExtractWizard is
compatible with multiple backup formats, with a distinct ExtractWizard
Agent supporting each format. PowerControls ExtractWizard for NT Backup is
included for no extra cost and works with all versions of NT Backup. In
addition to NT Backup support, ExtractWizard Agents are available for
other backup formats for an additional fee. Please reference the
information below to view which ExtractWizard Agent meets your backup
software needs. The PowerControls free trial includes PowerControls
ExtractWizard Direct functionality allowing you to read, view and catalog
all supported backup formats and save a catalog file that will work with a
full edition of PowerControls ExtractWizard Agent Each PowerControls
ExtractWizard Agent provides two methods (Direct and Advanced) to read
your backups. The Direct Method of extracting backed-up Exchange data
reads the tape or disk file directly without needing the original backup
software installed. This method is useful if the original backup software
is unavailable and you know the tapes on which the Exchange Information
Store backups reside. The Advanced Method uses your existing backup
software to extract an Exchange database from a backup server or tape
library, across the network, to the computer running ExtractWizard. The
Advanced Method takes full advantage of your backup software’s knowledge
of individual set locations and robotic library support. This is the
fastest method to extract an Exchange Information Store from the most
recent backups managed by your backup server. For additional information

ExtractWizard Agents for Legato, Computer Associates, IBM Tivoli,
Veritas, HP, CommVault, and UltraBac, and PC Agents for PST as Source and
for Advanced Searching are available for purchase.

Ontrack® PowerControls™ Add-On Features
In addition to ExtractWizard Agents, PowerControls users also have the
option to purchase other unique add-on features for enhanced search and
analysis capabilities.
- Agent for Content Analysis:
Reduces the time taken to perform complex email searches. Allows
administrators to create customized data stores to perform complex
search and analysis on multiple data sources rather than one at a time.
- Agent for PST as Source:
Allows users to select any PST file and open as a source data
store, performing all database operations including copying, exporting,
and searching. Parent folders are implemented for PST sources.
- Agent for Advanced Searching:
Enables you to search attachment text for keywords or phrases. This
agent has the ability to Search within Attachment Text, Message Subject,
Message Body, and Attachment File Name(s), allowing you to search any of
these criteria in any combination.
- Agent Administrative Services:
Enables you to mirror your organization’s internal I.T.
security policies. This agent offers ability to perform activity
auditing to ensure proper use of the product and track all actions taken
by product users, and permissions control access to restrict access to
mailboxes contained within private off-line EDB Exchange mailbox stores.
PowerControls will present the ability to Search within Attachment Text in
addition to Message Subject, Message Body, and Attachment File Name(s),
allowing you to search any of these criteria in any combination.
