Technical Specifications/Architecture

 

How it Works

  • Installation process creates an Indexing database that identifies all references to facilitate searches, and an Activity database that logs and summarizes all activities.
  • The Sametime admin creates an Activity in the Notes database by defining the Activity type (eg, Rename User), Activity properties (eg, ST Username), and how the Activity is to be reflected in the affected buddy lists.
  • Targets for updates may be defined on narrow criteria (eg, specific users who match a search filter) or broad criteria (eg, all users in a Sametime directory).
  • The Activity is executed and logged.
    • Activity Log includes when the Activity was executed, number of users updated, number of failed updates, and creates an Activity Record in case a rollback is required
    • Person Log describes the updates applied to that person; includes a copy of the person’s previous buddy list in case a rollback is required.
