Topper for NT Server Management - Configuration Example
 

In the configuration screen above, we are configuring the Server LAB400 to monitor the Exchange MTA, work Queue length. This counter will be queried every 30 seconds for three different conditions.
  • If the server is unavailable for monitoring, TOPPER will alert after 5 minutes and further escalate the situation at 10 and 15 minutes.
  • If the number of items in the queue exceeds 20 items, Topper will alert and further escalate the situation at 40 and 60 items.
  • If the queue fails to reach 0 for a period of 45 minutes, TOPPER will alert and further escalate at 90 and 180 minutes.

In this example, since no Paging, E-mail, SNMP or Object notification methods have been specified, then alerting will only be shown on the GUI by changing colors on the appropriate icon (in this case the icon for LAB400) and displaying a text message describing the alert condition.
